About Dr. Honan
Dr. Honan graduated from medical school as a medical doctor (MD). In the
general practice of medicine in Lebanon, Indiana, he provided care for patients
with a wide variety of illnesses, delivered babies and shared with other local
doctors in staffing the emergency room of Witham Hospital. He served in the US
Army as a medical officer. He had residency training in the Department of
Ophthalmology at the Indiana University School of Medicine to become an eye
specialist and eye surgeon (Eye MD). He was the first board certified specialist in
Lebanon. As an eye surgeon he developed a special surgical instrument to make
cataract surgery safer. The use of the instrument is taught in eye surgery training
institutions in the US and internationally and is used worldwide. Dr. Honan
traveled to the Netherlands for special training in lens implant surgery at the time
of cataract surgery. In 1975 he implanted one of the first, if not the first, lens
implants in Indiana at Witham Hospital. Dr. Honan practices comprehensive
ophthalmology in Lebanon. He is an associate professor at the Indiana University
School of Medicine. In 1998 he was introduced to a new treatment to eliminate his
own many allergies. It was so successful that he took training in the treatment and
has been offering this and other exciting new therapies to patients.
